BEST KEPT SECRETS FOR SELLING YOUR HOME

Thinking of selling? Or maybe your home is already on the market and just isn’t moving as fast as you’d hoped? These four tips for a fast sale aren’t the most talked about, but they’re among the most important! Don’t over upgrade. When updating your home before listing, prioritize easy fixes over massive renovations. Painting the walls and swapping out light fixtures and hardware are inexpensive and almost always impress. A huge kitchen overhaul might not provide a full return on investment – especially if your kitchen was already decent to begin with. Hide your pets. You love your fur babies, but not everyone is an animal person. Even potential buyers who have pets of their own likely don’t want to see your dog’s well-worn bed in the corner of the kitchen or your cat’s food and water bowl. Stash pet-related items away when you have showings and make sure to take your pets with you. Always be ready for a showing. Buyers have a wide variety of schedules. Some may want to see your house bright and early, while others might work all day and only be available in the evening. You – and your home – need to always be ready. Decluttering and setting out storage baskets are two ways to help keep your home tidy while it’s on the market. First impressions are everything. The saying “you never get a second chance to make a first impression” is most definitely true when it comes to real estate. Most buyers will have already judged your home before they walk through the front door. This is why curb appeal is so important. And it isn’t about having a grand or expensive-looking exterior. It’s about making your home look well taken care of and welcoming. A freshly cut lawn, weed-free flowerbed and swept walkway are huge. Add in some potted plants, a clean welcome mat and potential buyers will be more excited to come inside.
