TIPS FOR SAVING MONEY WHEN MAKING A MOVE

Moving Day can be a very difficult time, physically and emotionally – but it doesn’t have to be fiscally stressful as well – if you do some research and preparation beforehand. Many moving companies have an online moving calculator that allows you to approximately gauge what the final cost of the move will be. These digital tools will allow you to estimate your cost based on different variables, such as the number of rooms involved, number of boxes, if appliances are to be moved and other criteria. If you have time, check in with several different companies to compare their prices. Reputable firms will provide a quote that should aid you in selecting your mover of choice. By having used the online calculator you should have a basic idea of the costs involved, so if the quotes provided are far different you might need to do some further study – if time permits. One of the costs of moving are the supplies you use to pack up your possessions. Moving experts stress that one way to save money is to avoid buying moving supplies such as cardboard boxes, packing paper, pads and blankets and bubble wrap. If you know someone who has recently moved, consider asking them to save their boxes and any extra moving supplies for you. Also, retail locations are excellent places to acquire boxes when it comes time to pack up your treasured items. Another way to save money on a move is to reduce the amount of material to be moved. The best way to do this is to toss, donate or sell whatever you don’t need before moving.

GNOCCHI WITH SPINACH AND CHICKEN SAUSAGE

INGREDIENTS : 1 package (16 ounces) potato gnocchi 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 package (12 ounces) fully cooked Italian chicken sausage links, halved and sliced

1 cup white wine or chicken broth 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth 3 cups fresh baby spinach 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

2 shallots, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced

DIRECTIONS: 1. Cook gnocchi according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat; cook sausage and shallots until sausage is browned and shallots are tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. 2. Stir in wine. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced by half, 3-4 minutes. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and broth until smooth; stir into sausage mixture. Return to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Add spinach and cream; cook and stir until spinach is wilted. 3. Drain gnocchi; add to pan and heat through. Sprinkle with cheese.

If you’re the buyer in a sale, a real estate lawyer will take care of a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: - Review all legal documents including the Agreement of Purchase. - Ensure there are no liens, encumbrances or other financial issues attached to your prospective property. - Confirm Title Insurance for the property is in place and the property’s taxes are up to date. Finally, they will also see that all legal and financial obligations have been met prior to closing and be involved in exchanging legal documents and keys with the seller’s lawyer.

On the seller’s side of the transaction, a lawyer will perform many of the same tasks and will also deal with any potential title issues. The lawyer will also make certain all the negotiated financial and legal conditions of the sale have been completed and be there for the transfer of documents and keys from the buyer’s lawyer.

GTA REALTORS ® Release, January 2023 – The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) housing market experienced a marked adjustment in 2022 compared to record levels in 2021. Existing affordability issues brought about by a lack of housing supply were exacerbated by sustained interest rate hikes by the Bank of Canada. “Following a very strong start to the year, home sales trended lower in the spring and summer of 2022, as aggressive Bank of Canada interest rate hikes further hampered housing affordability. With no relief from the Office of Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) mortgage stress test or other mortgage lending guidelines including amortization periods, home selling prices adjusted downward to mitigate the impact of higher mortgage rates. However, home prices started levelling off in the late summer, suggesting the aggressive early market adjustment may be coming to an end,” said new Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) President Paul Baron. There were 75,140 sales reported through TRREB9s MLS® System in 2022 3 down 38.2 percent compared to the 2021 record of 121,639. The number of new listings amounted to 152,873 3 down 8.2 percent
