FIVE EASY HOUSEPLANTS FOR BEGINNER GREEN THUMBS Having indoor plants is a beautiful way to connect with nature. Plus, it can be rewarding to watch your plant grow and thrive over time. But not everyone feels confident to purchase a household plant, especially if you haven’t had luck with plants in the past. If that ’s the case, then definitely try one of these easy-to-care-for houseplants.

1. Aloe vera. Aloe vera is easy to take care of and has medicinal properties. If you get a small scratch or burn simply cut a leaf from the plant and squeeze a little gel onto your wound. 2. Montsera. Also known as a “Swiss cheese plant” due to its split leaves, Monsteras can grow up to eight feet tall. They prefer morning sunlight, but can survive pretty much anywhere. 3. Pothos. If you love the aesthetic of a trailing plant, then a pothos is exactly what you’re looking for. To water, simply check the soil. If it ’s dry an inch down from the surface – give it a good drink and it will be one happy plant.

4. Snake plant. Snake plants can grow anywhere from two to twelve feet tall, but they stay quite vertical so they’re perfect for small spaces. A great thing about snake plants is they don’t like to be overwatered, so you can leave them weeks at a time and they’ll be just fine. 5. Spider plant. If you’re interested in learning to propagate plants – meaning taking cuttings and repotting them – then try the spider plant. It grows lots of little offshoots called “spiderettes” that you can cut, replant and give to family and friends.

Panoramic views reward you at the end of a 245-metre climb. 2. Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail, Alberta. An easy 2-kilometre stroll around one of the country’s most beautiful lakes. 3. Georgian Bay Trail, Ontario. A three hour hike that offers stunning views of the bay’s turquoise water. 4. Emerald Lake Trail, British Columbia. This two hour circuit allows you to explore two different types off forest – a typical rocky Mountain forest and a Columbian forest.
