IS FALL A GOOD TIME TO SELL YOUR HOME?
As the summer is winding down, you may be turning your thoughts toward the future. Fall is certainly a time of looking forward to see what
might be yet to come. The seasons are shifting and children – and many adults – are returning to school. According to the real estate experts, the fall is actually a great time to sell your home.
While spring and summer usually show a hotter market, people who are looking for a home during the fall are often more motivated to buy. Fall buyers may be looking because of relocation due to a new job or a new school. Plus, buyers most likely want to get into their new home before the winter and the holiday season start. Another perk of selling in the fall is that autumn can make your home feel warm and cozy. If you have trees in your yard that are changing colour, the effect can be quite magical. Keep in mind that potential buyers may want to move quickly, so make sure you have your new residence lined up before you list.

INGREDIENTS : 1 1/2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless 3 cups chicken broth 1 jar (10-ounce) red enchilada sauce 1 can (14.5-ounce) fire-roasted tomatoes 1 can (15-ounce) black beans 2 cups corn kernels
1 can (3.5-ounce) chopped green chilies 1 cup chopped white onions
1 tsp garlic powder 2 tsp chili powder 2 tsp cumin 1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp salt (plus additional to taste) Garnishes: cheese, sour cream, etc.
DIRECTIONS: 1. Add everything (other than the garnishes) to a slow cooker, including the whole chicken breasts. 2. Cook the ingredients on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours. 3. Remove the chicken. Shred the chicken using two forks and return it to the slow cooker. 4. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish as desired.
Born in Russia in 1920, Isaac Asimov was an American based writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. He was known for his works of science fiction and popular science. Asimov was a prolific writer, and wrote or edited more than 500 books. His Laws of Robotics, written in 1940, are well known in the scientific world. These laws state that a robot may not harm a human being, they must obey orders given by a human being unless they conflict with the first law, and they must protect their own existence as long as it doesn’t conflict with law one and two. He died in 1992 at the age of 72.

STYLISH DESKS THAT WILL HELP YOU GET ORGANIZED Like it or not – September usually means back to a more structured routine. Whether that means kids returning to school after summer vacation, returning to work after a relaxing getaway, or just renewing your commitment to lead a more organized life – these four desks in different design styles will point you in the right direction. • Traditional. If you like classic, timeless furniture, look for a desk in solid wood, with detailing on the legs, as well as several drawers. A traditional desk will have weight to it – not look as if you can pick it up and move it by yourself. • Modern Glam. Like a little bit of sparkle? Bring some fun to your office-space with a white desk that has gold detailing – such as thin gold legs and drawer pulls. What sets modern glam apart from full-out glam is that it ’s more understated, so look for a desk that has clean lines with just a touch of luxury. • Minimalist. If you’re a minimalist at heart, then your workspace should reflect that. Look for a desk with no drawers and thin matte black legs. A desk with no storage space means you’ll have to keep on top of your paperwork, but if you’re a true minimalist this shouldn’t be problem! • Kid-Friendly. While not a design style, kid-friendly definitely has its own look. Find a desk that ’s well made, with lots of drawers, but keep an eye out for a bit of whimsy – such as some interesting detailing or fun hardware.
PROS AND CONS OF BATHROOM SINK STYLES
Too many bathroom sink options getting you down? It’s a common problem. Undermount, drop-in, vessel or pedestal? Rectangular, oval or circular? One sink or two? The answer will largely depend on which bathroom you’re choosing the sink for, who uses the room and the amount of space you have. Here are five common sink types and their pros and cons. • Drop-in. Possibly the most common sink type, a drop- in sink is inserted from the top and has a visible rim. Depending on the style you choose, the rim can be slim or quite visible. Drop-in sinks work with almost every countertop type, but require a bit more elbow grease when cleaning as grime can sometimes get stuck around the rim’s edges. Drop-in sinks are typically oval in shape. • Undermount. An undermount sink sits under the counter and helps create a seamless look that’s easy to clean. However, it’s only a possibility with a solid surface countertop and doesn’t work with laminate. Undermount sinks come in many shapes, with the most popular being rectangular.
• Vessel. If you’re looking for a statement piece, a vessel is the way to go. Sitting entirely on top of the counter, vessel sinks are essentially large bowls and come in many shapes. Make sure a vessel will work with your counter height before installing, as you don’t want it to feel too high when using it. • Pedestal. Pedestal sinks offer a certain classic style that a sink with a vanity doesn’t. If your bathroom leans toward traditional or farmhouse, a pedestal adds simple elegance. It’s also great for small bathrooms as the base takes up less room than a vanity, but beware – you’ll lose out on all the vanity storage. However, a few well-placed baskets can solve that problem. • One sink or two? This will depend on your space and the bathroom in question. Powder rooms often have just one small sink, while master baths often have two. As for style with double sinks, drop-in, undermount and vessel are all common. However two side-by-side pedestal sinks can also work, especially in a master bath with traditional leanings.

CLEANINGHACKSFORKEEPINGYOUR HOMENEATANDTIDY For most of us, keeping our homes clean is a constant challenge. Busy lives and other priorities mean that dishes, laundry and dust can pile up – even if we have the best of intentions. There are a few simple things you can do to make keeping your home neat and tidy a little bit of an easier task. The first is to have a plan. Schedule just five or ten minutes of cleaning into your day. Whether that means you do a quick vacuum before starting work, or run the duster throughout your home before bed, having a specific time set aside will make it easier to stay on top of things. Another helpful hack is to create a simple list you either hang on your fridge or store on your phone. Write down all the smaller daily or weekly tasks you’d like to accomplish and then reward yourself with a nice checkmark once complete. Next up, store all your cleaning supplies in a caddy and put it in one easy to access area. Whether that ’s under your sink or in your linen closet, being able to grab the entire caddy and just get to work makes cleaning seem a little more accessible on those busy days. Last up, set up baskets and other storage solutions to help keep clutter at bay. Do things always seem to pile up on your kitchen counters? Keep a small basket nearby they can all go into before getting put away in their proper place. Always have clean laundry piled up waiting to be put away? Invest in some nice fabric hampers and label them with a tag that says “clean.” Laundry can’t put itself away, but at least it can hang out in a cute basket until you’re ready to tackle it.
NUTRITION HACKS FOR YOUR BUSIEST DAYS Find it hard to consistently eat healthy, nutrition-packed food when you’re living a busy life? You’re not alone!
