UPDATE YOUR KITCHEN WITHOUT BREAKING THE BUDGET

A home’s kitchen can make or break a sale, which is why it’s the best place for you to invest your time and money before listing. A full-scale remodel isn’t necessary to transform your kitchen from outdated to outstanding. One of the best ways to freshen up your kitchen is with a paint job on both the walls and the cabinets. The best way to make the right kind of impact is to choose neutral colours that will appeal to the most buyers. White cabinets and soft green or blue walls are a perennial fav. A slightly trendier, but still safe bet, would be grey cabinets with lighter grey or off-white walls. Colour can be brought in with accessories. Next up – countertops. Certainly a more expensive renovation, but one that can offer big rewards in resale value. Plus, with newer countertop materials and technologies, budget friendly options can look much more high-end. As with the wall and cabinet colours, choose something neutral that will appeal to the widest range of buyers. Drawer and cupboard handles come next and should be sleek and simple. Same goes with light fixtures. If you can afford to add in some pot lights they also are a huge selling feature. Pendant or track fixtures can act more as task lighting as well as provide visual interest. If your kitchen includes a dining area or breakfast nook, the pendant or chandelier that hangs over the table is the place to choose something with a bit more style. Matte black fixtures are popular as well as ones that have a modern farmhouse or simple industrial vibe. As for staging, store small appliances in the cabinets and try and keep the countertops mostly clear. For viewings, add a bowl of crisp apples or some fresh flowers and make sure the sink and counters are sparkling.
