Vatnajökull National Park Covering 1.4 million hectares, or nearly 14% of Iceland, this volcanic region boasts ten central volcanoes. Eight of these volcanos are subglacial and two of them are still active. The landscape of the area is constantly changing due to the “fire and ice” aspects.

Purnululu National Park Located in Western Australia, this national park covers nearly 240,000 hectares of remote wilderness. It is home to a unique landscape comprised of beehive-shaped cone towers that make up the Bungle Bungle Range.

Los Alerces National Park Home of the second longest living tree species in the world (the Alerce tree), the aptly named Los Alerces National Park is located west of the Chilean border in the Andes of Northern Patagonia.

Simien National Park Located in Ethiopia, the Simien National Park, covers 13,600 hectares of landscape populated by sharp mountain peaks and deep valleys, including the highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Dejen. It’s also home to the Walia ibex, the Gelada baboon and the Ethiopian wolf.

Kaziranga National Park Nearly 43,000 hectares of undisturbed land in eastern India make up this national park. It is known as one of the best wildlife refuges in the world and is home to many species including the one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bears, leopards, Indian Elephants and thousands of bird species and reptiles.

Alehandro de Humboldt National Park Located in the Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa Mountains on the North Coast of Eastern Cuba, this national park is known as one of the most biologically diverse tropical island sites in the world. Home to thousands of plants unique to the area.

Lake Malawi National Park Malawi is found in southeast Africa. Hundreds of fish species, unique to the region, live in the clear waters of Lake Malawi. The evolution of cichlid fish, known locally as “mbuna” is a widely studied as an example of ecological processes.

Durmitor National Park Known in Europe for its outstanding hiking, climbing and skiing, the Durmitor National Park is home to breathtaking views of pine forests, clear lakes and canyon gorges. Located in Montenegro, the landscape has been shaped by glaciers and rivers and is home to many unique species of plants and animals.

Garajonay National Park Located on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands, this national park is comprised of mostly Laurel forest. The diverse plants living in this forest are often engulfed in a fog, giving a magical look to the forest floor.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Known for its expansive caves and underground rivers, this national park is located in the Annamite Mountain Range in Viet Nam. Many of the 300 caves have yet to be fully explored and are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna species.

Iguaçu National Park Located in Brazil, this national park is home to the Iguaçu Falls – the largest waterfall in the world. This impressive sight stretches over the border of Argentina and Brazil and is nearly 3 kilometers long with vertical drops up to 82 meters.

Ichkeul National Park Hundreds of thousands of migrating birds call Ichkeul Lake, in Tunisia, home. Pink flamingoes, ducks, geese and storks all stop in this vast wetland every winter to feed and nest.
