THE VALUE A REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL BRINGS Selling a home involves more than listing it and waiting for offers. While some homeowners consider selling on their own, many choose to work with a real estate professional for the added support and expertise. Pricing is one of the most important factors. Setting the right price requires an understanding of local market conditions, recent sales and buyer behaviour. A well priced home can attract more interest and help avoid long periods on the market. Presentation also plays a key role. From staging advice to photography and marketing, professionals help showcase a home in a way that appeals to a wide range of buyers. Small details can make a meaningful difference in how a property is perceived. There is also the negotiation process to consider. Offers, conditions and timelines can be complex and having guidance can help sellers feel more confident when making decisions. Finally, managing paperwork and timelines can be time consuming. Working with someone experienced helps ensure nothing is missed along the way. For homeowners thinking about selling, having the right support can make the process smoother and more informed from start to finish.

HOSTING A SUCCESSFUL YARD SALE THIS SPRING A yard sale is a simple way to clear out unused items and give your home a fresh start for the season. With some planning, it can also be an easy and rewarding weekend project. Before getting started, check local guidelines. Some communities have yard sale restrictions such as permits, signage rules or set dates, so it is worth confirming what is allowed in your area. Start by gathering items you no longer need. Clothing, kitchenware, books and small household goods tend to sell well. Grouping similar items together makes it easier for shoppers to browse and keeps your sale organized. Pricing does not need to be complicated. Clear labels or grouping items by price keeps things moving and avoids confusion. This is usually a cash event so having small bills and coins on hand helps transactions go smoothly. Timing can make a difference. A mild weekend and a morning start often bring the best turnout. Posting on local social media or neighbourhood groups can help attract more visitors. Presentation matters. A clean, well laid out space with visible signage creates a welcoming experience and encourages people to stay and explore.

REFRESH YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE As temperatures begin to rise, outdoor spaces become an extension of the home. A few simple updates can make patios, balconies or yards feel more comfortable and inviting for everyday use. Start with a basic clean. Sweeping surfaces, wiping down furniture and clearing away debris can instantly improve the look of a space. Even a quick refresh can make outdoor areas feel ready to use again. Seating is one of the most important elements. Adding cushions or replacing worn ones can bring new life to existing furniture. For smaller spaces, a compact chair or bench can create a cozy spot without overcrowding the area. Planters are an easy way to introduce colour and texture. Low maintenance plants, herbs or a few small arrangements can brighten a space without requiring extensive upkeep. Grouping planters together helps create visual impact. Lighting can extend how the space is used. String lights, lanterns or solar powered options add warmth and make evenings more enjoyable. Refreshing an outdoor space does not need to be complicated. With a few thoughtful updates, it is possible to create a comfortable area that feels welcoming throughout the season.

SIMPLE WAYS TO REDUCE HOUSEHOLD WASTE Reducing household waste does not have to involve major lifestyle changes. Small adjustments to everyday habits can make a noticeable difference while also helping keep your home more organized. Reusable options can make a difference. Swapping disposable items for reusable cloths, containers or shopping bags is a simple way to cut down on single-use products. Keeping these items visible and easy to access makes them more likely to be used consistently. Food waste is another common area to address. Planning meals, storing ingredients properly and using leftovers creatively can help reduce what ends up being thrown away. Even small changes in the kitchen can add up over time. Recycling and proper disposal also play a role. Taking the time to sort materials and use local recycling programs helps ensure items are handled responsibly. Reducing waste is about progress, not perfection. With a few thoughtful habits, it becomes easier to maintain a home that feels efficient, organized and mindful.

Average selling price across all residential property types increased by 3.4% from the previous month to $470,819, a price 2.2% higher than March 2025. Compared to last year, there’s more available inventory and fewer sales; sellers looking for a quick sale may have to price strategically to get their property to stand out.” –Darlene Reid, 2026 Board Chair, REALTORS® Association of Edmonton Source: REALTORS® Association of Edmonton | Market values stated are of the average of Edmonton and surrounding region. Individual home market values will vary and are affected by factors such as location, size, interior and exterior condition. Please call to get an up-to-date evaluation of your home.
