FROM TRESTLES TO TAPS: A SUMMER RIDE ALONG THE KVR

Last month, I crossed something off my Okanagan bucket list—biking from Myra Canyon to Naramata along the historic Kettle Valley Railway trail. What made this adventure even more meaningful was doing it with CRIS Adaptive Adventures , a local non profit that makes outdoor experiences accessible for everyone. Their team, energy, and support made the journey not just possible, but unforgettable. We kicked off the ride at Myra Canyon, cruising over iconic wooden trestles and through century-old tunnels with jaw-dropping views at every turn. The trail stretches about 65 km and winds through some of the most stunning parts of the valley. It’s mostly downhill or flat, making it perfect for riders of all experience levels—and for soaking in the scenery. Halfway through, I stopped for two nights at Chute Lake Lodge , a true gem tucked in the forest. I stayed in one of their cozy lakefront wall tents , complete with a dock just steps away. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming—I spent my rest day fishing, lounging in a hammock, and ending the evening around the campfire with live music under the stars. A huge thank-you to the lodge for the delicious food and even better employees —you made it feel like home. The final leg into Naramata brought those classic vineyard views and that warm, sun-drenched feeling that means wine country is near. I wrapped up the ride with a much-earned pizza and cold beer at Abandoned Rail Brewing —the perfect ending to a ride full of fresh air, good company, and unforgettable moments. If this journey isn’t already on your Okanagan bucket list , it should be. From trestles to taps (and trails to pizza), it’s an experience you won’t forget.
