HOME DECOR ITEMS TO BUY ONLINE Sometimes a room in your home is just missing… something. But you can’t figure out what! Well, thanks to the magic of the internet, you can easily purchase items for your home – while in your home! For example, macrame wall hangings – last popular in the 1970s – are back and just as funky as ever. And thanks to the current green living trend, you can buy one from the company INDRESSME made from biodegradable cotton. And how about a lovely essential oil scent to go with that boho- style wall hanging? Essential oil diffusers not only help your room smell great, they also look beautiful as they come in a multitude of colours and patterns. Check out Hathaspace’s white and grey marble-patterned diffuser for a touch of class. Lastly, dress up your walls with peel and stick wallpaper from RoomMates, which comes off just as easily as it goes on.

TREND ALERT: FRENCH-GIRL APARTMENT STYLE On Instagram, almost everything is a trend. And something that is definitely trending right now is the French-girl apartment. For the uninitiated, the French-girl apartment is a decor style pulled from the homes of young, female Instagrammers from – you guessed it – France. The style is laidback, yet romantic, blending vintage wares and abstract art within the same space. It’s also the perfect style for condo living as it makes a statement without feeling busy or cluttered. Intrigued? Follow these tips and you’ll be feeling like a Parisian in no time. • Achieve a lived-in, yet sophisticated, vibe with textured, white bedding. A look that delivers somewhere between pristine and unfussy. • Need somewhere to sit while snapping a selfie? How about a vintage chair, which is both stylish and affordable. Just check out your local thrift store and grab a can of paint to get the look for less. • Finish off the look with mismatched throw pillows. They’re cozy and add to that “I’m not really trying to be stylish” feeling.

6 OF CANADA’S ARCHITECTURAL MARVELS Canadian architecture doesn’t always receive global attention. But it should! Why not wrap up your summer with a visit to one – or several – of Canada’s most famous architectural achievements? Montreal’s Atwater market is just as beautiful today as it was when constructed in 1933. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the city’s most famous architectural marvel – Habitat 67. Meanwhile, Charlottetown’s 1844 Province House is a shining example of the Greek Revival architectural style. More interested in modern buildings? Toronto’s Sharp Centre for Design is about as modern as they come and houses apartments and the Ontario College of Art and Design. As for Canada’s Western- half, Winnipeg’s Royal Canadian mint is a sight to behold. Described as “striking,” this triangular building was erected in 1976. Another 70s era building worth a visit is Vancouver’s Museum of Anthropology. Located only thirty minutes from the city’s downtown area, this University of British Columbia building was also built in 1976.

3 THINGS TO LOOK FORWHEN BUYING A CONDO Thinking of buying a condo? Great idea! Not only are they easier to manage thanks to their smaller size and the absence of a large yard, they’re also an excellent choice for those looking to live in the heart of a city. Here are three things you should look for when picking out the condo of your dreams. 1. The right price. Not only do you want to pay the right price to help keep your mortgage payments manageable, you also want to factor in resale price. No one likes purchasing a property – condo or not – that can’t later be sold for a profit. 2. Affordable condo fees. While you might be thinking the lower the condo fees the better, be wary of too good to be true situations. The money you pay for fees is the money that is invested back into your building and its amenities. The nicer the building, the higher the fees are likely to be. However, also consider how many units there are in the building. The more units, the more the fees will be split. 3. Great neighbours. Since you’ll be living in close proximity to your neighbours, it’s extra important they be good ones. Of course, you might not get to meet them before purchasing, but ensuring the building houses people with a similar lifestyle to yours is a step in the right direction. It Just Got Easier!
