WHAT HOMEOWNERS WANT IN A BATHROOM RENO – RIGHT NOW From colours, to materials, to fixtures, to overall style – there are a lot of things to consider with a bathroom renovation. Sometimes knowing what others are doing can help guide you when making decisions for your own bathroom overhaul. Here’s a breakdown of multiple areas of bathroom design – and what homeowners are choosing to do right now. • Overall style. Homeowners love a modern bathroom, with a transitional style as the most common second choice. This means clean lines and simplicity reign supreme, while lovers of a transitional style want a bit more detail and warmth added. • Colours. When it comes to colour in a renovated bathroom – homeowners gravitate toward white, white and more white. In a recent survey by Houzz, 58% of people chose white countertops, 32% chose white vanities and 46% chose white walls. Close to the top of the list was white’s slightly more forgiving cousin – grey. • Flooring. Ceramic or porcelain tile is unsurprisingly the most common flooring type selected for bathroom renos, with marble coming in second and vinyl flooring a close third – most likely due to its affordability. • Other. There are so many more things to consider in a bathroom reno. Homeowners are also loving water-efficient and fingerprint-resistant faucets, freestanding flat-bottomed tubs, side by side mirrors and wall sconces paired with recessed ceiling lights.
